Geelong captain Joel Selwood says that his side has ‘plenty to learn’ after their 18-point loss against Richmond.

In a hard-fought game where neither side gave away anything in the first three quarters, Geelong made a couple of costly errors early in the fourth term which allowed the Tigers to run away with the match.

“They did things just a little better than us in that last quarter, so for our group, plenty to learn,” said Selwood.

“We will grow from it definitely and we have to because they are one of the best sides in it at the moment, it just shows that we have some improvement to do.”

“They just did more clutch things at the right time.”

The Tigers pressure was relentless all day as they showed why they are so hard to beat at the MCG, laying 82 tackles, with youngsters Jack Graham (13 tackles) and Daniel Rioli (eight) leading the way.

The pressure was evident with a few costly turnovers and mistakes in Geelong’s back half which led to a couple of crucial goals to Richmond.

“They pressure the ball, probably, better than anyone in the comp and they definitely brought that today.”

“We over-handballed it every now and then and allowed that pressure to come.”

Geelong head into the bye sitting fifth on the ladder with eight wins and five losses.
