Forward Stewart Crameri is expected to be sidelined this weekend

Forward Stewart Crameri is expected to be sidelined this weekend after he copped a poke in the eye in Saturday's VFL win over North Melbourne.

The 29-year-old forward was taken to hospital for assessment after booting three goals in the opening half at GMHBA Stadium.

Crameri visited a specialist on Monday and admitted his chances of pushing his case for an AFL recall were thin.

"They said maybe 50-50 (chance of playing) but I think it’s pretty slim," Crameri told K rock Football radio on Tuesday.

"I'm struggling to see correctly and that's always an issue when you can't see.

"So maybe a week off and then we’ve got the bye after that.”

The former Bulldog and Bomber has played four AFL games for the Cats and was dropped for the round 11 game against Gold Coast.

Meanwhile, the Cats are awaiting confirmation that defender Aaron Black suffered a torn ACL against North Melbourne in the AFL on the weekend.
