A RESILIENT Nakia Cockatoo says he's ready to bounce back from yet another injury setback.

The Cats speedster failed to return from the bench in the third term, injuring his knee in what coach Chris Scott described as a PCL.

After three separate hamstrings last year and a calf complaint in this pre-season, Cockatoo remains strong.

"It is frustrating but I guess that's footy," Cockatoo told AFL.com.au on Monday.

"I've dealt with a few injuries over the last couple of years, I'm resilient about it. I've just got to hopefully get better soon.

"I had no idea until I got up. I just went to the bench and found I'd had a knock. Hopefully the scan's not too bad."

Cockatoo will learn the full extent of his injury on Monday as Geelong counts the cost of a day of drama in the west.

Superstar veteran Gary Ablett pulled his hamstring in the final term and didn't return, while Cam Guthrie's right ankle was crushed under a tackle from Eagle Jamie Cripps.

Guthrie joined Cockatoo in a scan on Monday morning.

"A little bit of pain there, I don't know the full extent, yet, hopefully go in now and see what's up," Guthrie said.

"The first thing that comes to your mind is timeframe. They (medical staff) kind of hesitated to do that in case it was worse than they thought or better than they thought. We'll see after today."

The Cats are expected to regain midfielder Mitch Duncan for Sunday's clash against St Kilda, the first home match at GMHBA Stadium for the season.
