We're guessing Geelong fans went to sleep content on Thursday night. The club’s most famous name has returned home.

And we're wondering how many Cats fans dreams turned blue and white on Thursday night? Did they dream of that potential round one midfield of Joel Selwood, Patrick Dangerfield and Gary Ablett?

That dream is now a reality and it got us thinking, is this the most exciting midfield trio the Cats have had?
Who are the other contenders?

Here are out contenders for the most exciting midfield trios in Geelong's history.

Check them out, then have your say by voting using the poll at the end of the story.

Polly Farmer – Bill Goggin – Alistair Lord
The nucleus of the 1963 premiership was one of the most fearsome midfields assembled. It included Farmer, who is the greatest ruckman the club, if not the game, has seen, his tough and talented sidekick Goggin, and Lord, who’s skill and poise saw him win a Brownlow in 1962.

Paul Couch - Garry Hocking – Mark Bairstow
Skill, toughness and class. Each of Couch, Hocking and Bairstow had these characteristics in spades. The knowledge that if they got the ball forward Gary Ablett Snr would do the rest meant that the trio played with a confidence that overwhelmed opposition sides.

Gary Ablett Jnr – Jimmy Bartel – Joel Corey
The ABC that delivered the Cats their most successful period in history. Premierships, Brownlows, All-Australians, Carji medals. You name it, this trio won it. The perfect mixture of attack and defence made these three an unstoppable force.

Joel Selwood – Patrick Dangerfield – Gary Ablett Jnr
If these three shared a trophy cabinet it would need its own postcode: 19 All Australians, 12 best and fairests, six AFLPA MVPs, five premierships, four AFLCA player of the year awards and a combined 580 Brownlow votes. And they haven’t even played together yet! Who do you tag?!
