Geelong has named its team to play Adelaide in Friday night's preliminary final.

Veteran defender Tom Lonergan returns to the side after missing the win over the Swans due to gastro.

Nakia Cockatoo has also been called up after a long lay-off due to hamstring problems.

Cockatoo last played against Carlton in round 19, when he suffered his third hamstring strain in four matches scattered across 71 days. He also hurt his thumb in round one and required an operation.

James Parsons and Zach Guthrie are the unlucky players to make way.

The Cats have named Patrick Dangerfield at full-forward.
