Cats midfielder Sam Menegola has finished second in the AFL Coaches' Association Best Young Player award.

Menegola received 38 votes, finishing runner-up to emerging Melbourne gun Clayton Oliver.

The award is decided by tallying the number of votes received by young players in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award.

The AFLCA considers any player who is in his first two seasons in the AFL to be 'young'.
