Bone bruising has Danger under cloud

Peter Ryan - AFL Media  July 17, 2017 6:13 PM

Dangerfield injury cloud Patrick Dangerfield updates the media on his injury from the game against the Hawks

PATRICK Dangerfield remains in doubt for Friday night's top of the table clash with Adelaide after being diagnosed with bone bruising in his left foot.

The 27-year-old injured his foot on Saturday against Hawthorn and was in a moon boot at the club on Monday.

He will receive treatment this week and wait until the last minute before a decision is made on his availability.

The Cats superstar has not missed a game since joining Geelong and was hailed for his performance in kicking 5.6 on Saturday despite being hampered by his injured foot.

The Brownlow medallist hammed it up for the media on Monday after Port Adelaide's premiership player Kane Cornes suggested he had exaggerated the extent of his injury, arriving at his media conference covered in bandages and hobbling on a crutch.

"So much plays out between today and Friday so we'll leave it up to the last minute and then see how we go," Dangerfield said.

"There is a bit of bone bruising there. It is a bit sore but everyone plays with a bit of soreness this time of the year. It is a bit of a suck it and see to be totally honest."

The second-placed Cats are two points behind the Crows on the ladder and a win would increase their chances of playing a home final.

Dangerfield said there was a difference between performing and playing and his ability to be at his best would be part of the discussion.
