Wylie Buzza says the Cats will have to be at the top of their game to overcome the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Saturday night.

Fresh from making his AFL debut against the Giants in Sydney last weekend, the 21-year-old is part of the group enjoying some sun on the Gold Coast in the lead-up to the clash with the Lions.

But although they are enjoying the sunny and warm conditions, Buzza and his teammates are certainly not treating their week in south-east Queensland as a holiday.

"We know we're up here to perform and work hard and that's what we did today," Buzza said after training at the Broadbeach Football Club on Tuesday morning.

"When we train we train with purpose."

The Cats have won their past four games against the Lions by an average of 10 goals.

But the Lions' recent victories over Fremantle and Essendon have shown they are a team on the rise.

"We don't think Brisbane are pushovers," Buzza said. "As you saw on the weekend, they dominated Essendon in the last quarter and came from a good margin behind to get the win."

Buzza received a very late call-up to play against Greater Western Sydney, coming into the side at the last minute after Daniel Menzel suffered a knock to the knee during the warm-up.

Because of the late call-up, none of Buzza's family were in the stands to see him kick two goals and lay a team-high seven tackles.

"Fingers crossed I can get a game this weekend and all the family can come out," he said.
