There's mixed news on the injury front for two Geelong youngsters.

Timm House will have an extended stint on the sidelines after suffering concussion and a broken collarbone in the VFL Cats' win over Footscray last weekend.

But Quinton Narkle is set to return to action in the VFL next week after recovering from his hamstring injury.

"[Quinton has] been moving well for a couple of weeks now," Cats physio Mark Young said on the round 10 episode of the GMHBA Medical Report.

"He's a victim of the bye in the VFL.

"He probably would have played this weekend, but you'll see him the following week."

Unfortunately the short-term outlook isn't so positive for House.

"He was concussed and fell heavily to the ground - fractured his collarbone in a couple of places," Young said.

"So that requires surgery to fix the bone. That's going to be happening [on Tuesday].

"He'll have a stint in rehab, and that will be a number of weeks."
