Sam Menegola is leading the way for the Cats in an area that might surprise some fans.

The 25-year old is averaging 8.7 tackles per game, more than any other player on the Cats' list.

Joel Selwood sits second with 7.5, while Patrick Dangerfield is third with 4.8 tackles per game.

The fact that Menegola’s tackling statistics outmatch those of Selwood and Dangerfield says a lot about the potential of the up-and-comer.

Menegola has bounced around the AFL for years. He was listed by Fremantle and Hawthorn but didn't play a senior game for either club.

Since making his AFL debut with Geelong in round 18 last year, however, the onballer has made his name as a player who successfully combines talent and aggression.

If this style of play continues, Menegola could be a real driving force for the Cats this season.
