The Brook Point Cook has finalised its 2017 community partnership program, with over $100,000 again distributed to community groups within the Wyndham region.

The Brook Point Cook has distributed cash grants totalling $60,000 to 13 community groups, and made a further contribution worth $52,310 through in-kind assistance.

“The Brook Point Cook is proud of its role within the region, in both assisting vital community groups fulfil projects that are important to them, and as an employer to 55 staff,” Geelong Cats chief commercial officer Justin Reeves said.

“The groups receiving these grants today have wonderful initiatives that we are proud to assist, as we have been over the years through the community partnership program. With $500,000 cash provided plus around the same through in-kind donations, we believe we have given back around $1 million since The Brook Point Cook opened.”

To be eligible for funding, an applicant must:

  • Be a non-government, non-for-profit organisation (applications made by individuals cannot be accepted)
  • Be either legally incorporated (including groups incorporated through an act of Government or similar instrument), or be auspiced by another incorporated group (the auspicing group will need to sign the funding agreement and is responsible for managing the project).
  • Have a permanent presence in Wyndham
  • Demonstrate effective and appropriately governed financial management systems
  • Have the organisational capacity to manage and implement the proposed project
  • All funding submissions must have a designated purpose that clearly provides benefit to the local community
  • Sign the authorisation and declaration section of the application form
  • Commit to providing a written and verbal report of the use of the funding allocation

The Brook Point Cook employs 55 full and part time staff, the overwhelming majority that reside within the Wyndham region. Since opening in 2009 the Brook Point Cook has become one of the most popular family destinations in the area.
