Scott Selwood will play his first game for the season in the VFL Cats' clash with Port Melbourne at Simonds Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Selwood has overcome the toe injury that has troubled him for the past couple of months.

"Scooter's been really patient, he's had a couple of weeks of training now," Cats physio Mark Young said on the latest episode of the GMHBA Health Report.

"It's been a long rehab, but he's ready to go, so he'll play in the VFL on Saturday."

The round five GMHBA Health Report also contains updates on George Horlin-Smith (thumb), Tom Ruggles (concussion) and Jack Henry (fit to play after an interrupted pre-season).
