Tom Stewart says he can't wait to play his first game in Geelong's AFL team.

The 23-year-old defender, who was an outstanding member of the Cats' VFL side last season, has been confirmed as a definite starter in the team to take on Hawthorn in the JLT Community Series clash in Launceston on Friday night.

"Just keen to get down there, hopefully get the win, and just get through the first one, to be honest," Stewart told Cats Media before boarding the bus to Melbourne Airport.

Stewart will wear the number 44, made famous in the past decade by six-time All Australian, and now Cats assistant coach, Corey Enright.

"He's been pretty good," Stewart said of Enright.

"He sort of told me a couple of weeks ago that we don't own the jumper, we rent it from the club, so I'm just happy to represent the club and the colours on the front.

"It doesn't really matter about the number on the back."

Geelong's first selection in last year's national draft, speedy midfielder Brandan Parfitt, will also line up against the Hawks.

"It's pretty surreal, pretty crazy," Parfitt said.

"Looking forward to it. Very excited to be out there."
