As we approach the end of the 2016 calendar year, it's time to look back on the past 12 months at the Cattery.

Here are a few of Cats Media's highlights:

Dynamic Danger
We had a pretty fair idea that Patty Dangerfield could play a bit before he arrived at Geelong, but did we expect him to do what he did in 2016? Well, we'd love to say yes, but that would be a blatant lie. By helping the team return to the top four and win every award imaginable, including the Brownlow Medal and the Carji Greeves Medal (but not the K-Rock award!), Danger surpassed even our loftiest expectations.

The Dangerwood combo
The prospect of Joel Selwood and Patrick Dangerfield playing alongside each other was always a mouth-watering one. And they quickly became one of the AFL's great dynamic duos, playing off each other's strengths to propel their team up the ladder. The fact they finished first and second in the club best and fairest pretty much summed up their impact. In 2017, however, the reliance on the pair needs to diminish if the Cats are to progress one step further and reach their first Grand Final since 2011.

Corey Enright's fabulous finish
What an extraordinary final season it was for the Cats' champion defender. He broke the club's games record, made the All Australian team and finished third in the best and fairest. And he might just be the best half-back in the history of the game. Thankfully, 'Boris' wasn't away from the club for long. He quickly joined Chris Scott's coaching staff and has already been making a big impact with the younger players.

Jimmy Bartel's goal in his 300th game
The great No. 3 also had a very impressive final season as a player. But his standout moment came when he slotted a brilliant left-foot goal in the dying moments of the Cats' round 19 win over the Western Bulldogs at Simonds Stadium. Jimmy was a true fan-favourite and that moment had the stadium rocking.
