The VFL Cats will be boosted by the addition of Jordan Murdoch for Sunday's clash with Richmond at the Punt Road Oval.

Along with Murdoch, the Cats have regained Jock Cornell, Sam McLachlan and Will Sexton.

A total of 19 AFL-listed players have been named in the extended squad of 31, which will be reduced to 23 players on Sunday.

Out of the team that defeated Frankston last weekend go Alex Hickey (management), Jack Exell (TAC Cup) and Marcus Thompson.

Campbell Floyd from the Colac Football Club has been selected as the Cats' 23rd player.

The 23rd player rule is designed to enable clubs to promote young talent and provide them with a taste of VFL football to aid their development.
