What a great weekend it was for the Cats.

The AFL team surged back into the top four on the back of a very impressive five-goal win over Adelaide at Simonds Stadium on Saturday night.

Then the VFL boys continued their great run of form by thrashing Essendon at the same venue on Sunday afternoon.

When it comes to the AFL win over Adelaide, probably the most eye-catching element of the victory was the way the Cats strangled their opponent's much-heralded offence.

The Crows went into the clash averaging 112 points per game, yet Chris Scott's team restricted them to just 55 points, which was their lowest score of the season.

Each Geelong player can take some credit for the way the Crows were smothered, but a couple of them deserve a special mention.

For the second time this season, Jed Bews did an outstanding job on Eddie Betts.

And not only did Bews limit Betts to just 11 disposals and one goal, he managed to gather 14 disposals of his own and provide a lot of rebounding run from the backline.

Corey Enright was another star down back. In his 325th game for the Cats, Enright worked his backside off and read the play to perfection over and over again.

He finished with 31 disposals at 81 per cent efficiency, six marks and eight rebound 50s.

For this week, Enright shares Geelong's games record with Ian Nankervis, then the record will be all his after he lines up against the Western Bulldogs at Simonds Stadium on Friday night.

There were a few other talking points to emerge from the game.

There was this one from a noted Twitter stats boffin.

Meanwhile, Josh Cowan has now played seven AFL games and has won them all!

Finally, the Cats' rucking set-up has become a talking point again after the coaches chose to leave out Zac Smith and use Rhys Stanley as the No. 1 ruckman with support coming from Mark Blicavs.

It will be interesting to see whether the coaches revert back to the Smith-Stanley rucking duo, with Blicavs back in the midfield, when the Dogs visit the Cattery on Friday night.

We're keen to know what you think the best rucking set-up is to take into the finals.
