Scott Selwood has been named in the VFL Cats’ side to take on the Northern Blues this Saturday at Preston City Oval.

Selwood will play his first game in Cats colours after ankle surgery in the off-season.

George Horlin-Smith will also return after recovering from a medial ligament strain in his knee. The injury occurred at training in early June and after completing a solid rehab program, Horlin-Smith will return slightly earlier than first expected.

Rhys Stanley, Shane Kersten and Cory Gregson (AFL omissions) will also run out for the VFL Cats this Saturday.

The VFL Cats lose Mitch Clark, Nakia Cockatoo and Darcy Lang after all three were selected in the AFL team and youngsters Jock Cornell and Matthew Hayball will be managed.

The VFL Cats are currently sitting seventh on the ladder with five wins, five losses and a percentage of 120.

Northern Blues are currently sitting twelfth on the 2016 VFL ladder with four wins and seven losses.

Although the Blues look likely of missing the 2016 VFL finals series, they are a difficult team to match up against and earlier this season defeated the VFL Cats by 14-points under lights at Simonds Stadium.

They are well led by a number of experienced Carlton AFL listed players including Nick Graham, Mark Whiley, Blaine Boekhorst, Liam Jones, Kristain Jaksch, Dylan Buckley, and Jason Tutt.
