Cats midfield star Patrick Dangerfield has moved into the lead for the AFL Coaches Association award after a strong performance against Gold Coast.

Dangerfield polled eight votes to move into the outright lead ahead of the Suns’ Tom Lynch.

However, it was his teammate Joel Selwood who Chris Scott and Rodney Eade gave the maximum 10 votes to rocketing Selwood up into sixth spot overall for the award.

The rest of the votes were split between Mark Blicavs (three), Daniel Menzel (three), Steven Motlop (three), Jimmy Bartel (two) and Lachie Henderson (one).
