Saturday night’s clash with the Gold Coast Suns at Simonds Stadium will mark 100 inspirational games as captain for Geelong skipper Joel Selwood.

Selwood will become the fourth player in club history to captain the Cats in 100 matches and will only need a further eleven games to move past club games record holder Ian Nankervis in third.

The legendary Reg Hickey is the most capped captain for Geelong having lead the Cats in 142 games from 1930-40. Henry Young was captain for 137 games between 1903-09 and sits second on the all-time list.

But already a three-time premiership player, four-time All-Australian, three-time Carji Greeves medalist and 200-gamer at the age of just 27, Selwood could well go on to add longest serving captain to his impressive resume.
