Mark Blicavs, George Horlin-Smith and Jackson Thurlow might technically still be on holidays but the Cats trio are putting in some solid training, taking on the Noosa Triathlon on Saturday.

The young Cats joined forces for the Legends Tri on Saturday which featured other AFL players, NRL players, past Ironman legends, former Olympic gold medalists Susie O'Neill and Cathy Freeman and many more.

The team event saw each member take on a different leg of the triathlon with Horlin-Smith doing the 1500m swim, Thurlow completing the 40km bike ride and Blicavs, a former steeplechaser, taking on the 10km run.

After a very impressive effort, the boys finished in second place with a time of 1:55:27, though perhaps not legally according to Mark Blicavs.

"We came second thanks to some questionable riding from Thurls (we cheated haha)," Blicavs said.

All's fair in what is certainly the most light-hearted event of the weekend, with fun the aim of the game, and the boys' competitiveness clearly outweighing their willingness to follow the rules.

Blicavs and Thurlow took part in the event last year with Cats skipper Joel Selwood, who was subbed out as he continues to enjoy some time off overseas.

Whilst one triathlon for the weekend would be enough for most, Blicavs and Thurlow didn't stop there, taking on the individual triathlon the next day!

Despite having both never completed an individual triathlon prior to the event, the pair smashed it out and crossed the line together with a time of 2:35:45.

The effort saw them finish equal 19th in their age category.

As for Horlin-Smith, well he decided to give the individual one a miss.

"Horlo just watched from the VIP tent with a beer in hand. He was our support.

"It was an awesome weekend," Blicavs said.

The players are set to return to Geelong for preseason training across two dates in November, with the younger players beginning next Monday.
