GEELONG featured in a game involving the sub rule for the last time when it hosted Adelaide on Saturday.

Big man Josh Walker had the dubious honour of being the last Cats player to wear the green vest, while Daniel Menzel become the club's last wearer of the red vest.

Menzel was handed the red vest after being subbed out of the game in the third quarter.

All of this made us wonder about the stats involving Cats players since the sub rule was introduced for the 2011 season.

* A total of 39 Geelong players wore the green vest during the five seasons that the sub rule was around.

* Allen Christensen, who is now at the Brisbane Lions, was named sub the most times (9) of all Cats players.

* George Horlin-Smith and Josh Caddy were named sub eight times each.

* The first player subbed out of a Geelong game was Joel Selwood, who was knocked out in the Cats' round one win over St Kilda in 2011.

* Of all the players who registered an AFL game with Geelong in 2015, defender Jake Kolodjashnij is the only one who avoided wearing a vest of any colour in his career.
