DYNAMIC midfielder Jordan Murdoch has become the latest Geelong player to commit to the club.
 
The 23-year-old has signed a new three-year contract, which ties him at Simonds Stadium until the end of the 2018 season.
 
"It's exciting," Murdoch told CatsTV. 
 
"Geelong is my only club, it's the club I got drafted to, and I absolutely love it here, so I, rapt to be here for another three years."
 
Murdoch was selected by the Cats with selection 48 in the 2011 national draft.
 
He played only 19 AFL games in his first two seasons at Geelong, but he was among the club's big improvers last season, playing 23 games and kicking 22 goals.
 
The 190cm midfielder has been a solid performer again this year, averaging a career-high 15 disposals across 11 games.
 
Murdoch was among the Cats' best players in their 41-point loss to North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
 
He finished the game with 20 disposals, four marks, five tackles and two goals.
 
"I have really enjoyed playing in the midfield this season, and I have set myself to become an inside midfielder in the years to come," Murdoch said.
 
"I will also continue to pride myself on being versatile. I know that the coaches will need me to contribute in a range of different roles over the coming years."
 
Although the Cats are now two wins shy of a spot in the top eight and seem likely to miss this year's finals, Murdoch has no doubt things will quickly turn around.
 
"We've got so many impressive youngsters at the club," he said. "Guys like Cory Gregson and Nakia Cockatoo are going to be great players in the future.

"And there are plenty of others, like Darcy Lang, Jed Bews, Mark Blicavs and Cameron Guthrie, who will replace the champion Cats players who are reaching the end of their careers.  
 
"There's going to be another exciting era for Geelong."
