DANIEL Menzel has been cleared to play in Saturday's VFL clash with Werribee after completing the Cats' main training session at Simonds Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The 24-year-old was beaming after completing the session, which involved plenty of game-simulation drills and contested work.

"It went well," Menzel told CatsTV. "I'll be honest, I was pretty nervous going into it, because for me it was my last hurdle to get through.

"So I'm just over the moon, I guess, and excited for this weekend now."

The game against the Tigers at Avalon Airport Oval will be Menzel's first competitive hit-out since he suffered his fourth serious knee injury in a VFL match in early 2013.

"There'll be that much adrenaline, excitement, nerves – there'll be everything," he said.

"So I'm just going to try and enjoy it."

Saturday's VFL game begins at 1pm.
