DURING his recent appearance on Channel 7’s Game Day show, Cats star Corey Enright was quizzed about his plans when his AFL career comes to an end.

Enright was asked, by St Kilda skipper Nick Riewoldt no less, if he harbours an ambition to play a few games for his home town of Kimba, in rural South Australia.

After all, the people of Kimba recently named their local footy ground the Corey Enright Oval.

“I’d like to go back there and have a kick, probably not for a season, maybe just a game, so we’ll see how we go,” Enright replied.

But although Enright is still expected to call time on his AFL career at the end of this season, his form suggests he might yet have another campaign left in his legs.

After a slow start to the season, the five-time All Australian has wound back the clock in recent weeks with brilliant performances in Geelong’s win over Richmond and Collingwood.

Enright was simply outstanding in the victory over the Magpies last Friday night at the MCG.

He finished with 29 disposals, a team-high 11 tackles and eight intercept possessions.

“I thought Corey Enright was outstanding,” fellow defender Harry Taylor told CatsTV after the game.

“He’s 33 years old but still playing a very important role for us.”

Enright’s appearance on Game Day also included a look at the father-son prospects born in recent years who are eligible to play for Geelong under the current rules.

There are now so many that a mock 2030 Grand Final team was put together, with Corey’s son, Boh, in the midfield.

And in a nod to Corey Enright’s longevity, the old fella was named as the sub!
