For the first time ever, the Geelong Football Club is participating in the National Trust Heritage Festival.

Our special display, The Greatest Team of All and the Great War, will be open to festival visitors this Wednesday.

It’s a chance to see two very special exhibitions, (1) Matthew Scarlett, Legend, and (2) The Greatest Team of All and the Great War our tribute to our World War I players.  It includes artefacts on loan from Fort Queenscliff Museum and an officer’s uniform from the father-in-law of one of our players, Max Aitken.

The exhibition will be open tomorrow from (6 May) 2-4pm.

Don’t forget to have a look at our new  ANZAC Remembrance Garden which was officially opened on Sunday 26 April when we hosted North Melbourne in the ANZAC weekend round of AFL.  The garden has been completed through an ANZAC Centenary Local Grants Commission grant and we are most grateful to have this wonderful new area in which to pay our respects and reflect on the contribution of all who have served.

And it wouldn’t be an ANZAC commemoration without ANZAC biscuits.  Using the original ANZAC recipe from the CWA we will have coffee/tea and homemade ANZAC biscuits available for a gold coin donation.  All monies raised will go to our recently established Geelong Cats History Society.

If you are able to pay a visit tomorrow, please drop in, say hello, have a look around and join us for a cuppa and a biscuit.

The Cats Heritage Centre is located in the Deakin Cats Community Centre underneath the Players Stand at Simonds Stadium.
