The things we loved about the Cats' AFL and VFL wins over Richmond on Saturday.

1. DAWSON SIMPSON'S WWE-STYLE TACKLE
There were just under seven minutes left in the last quarter, and the Tigers had narrowed the margin to 19 points, when Dawson Simpson came face-to-face with Richmond's Jake Batchelor on the wing. Batchelor, who had the ball, ran straight at Simpson. The big Cat then grabbed Batchelor around the waist and body-slammed him into the turf, winning a free kick for holding the ball. Asked about the tackle by CatsTV after the game, fellow big man Mark Blicavs said: "It was unbelievable. I was right there. It was WWE-style. We need more of that from the big fella. It was good."

2. JORDAN MURDOCH'S SMOTHER
Richmond kicked four goals in the closing stages of the game to narrow the margin to 10 points with a minute to go. The Tigers then surged forward again, Sam Lloyd snapping the ball inside their 50m arc with 52 seconds remaining. Ty Vickery took possession in front of Jared Rivers, then handballed over his head to Jack Riewoldt, who looked up and saw Shaun Grigg standing next to Geelong's Jordan Murdoch in the goalsquare. Riewoldt put his fist into the ball, hoping it would reach Grigg. But Murdoch courageously left his man and smothered Riewoldt's handball just as the ball left his palm. Murdoch's effort forced a ball-up, enabling the Cats to hold on and record a much-needed win.

3. JACKSON THURLOW'S LOVE OF TASMANIA
The young Tasmanian produced one of the best performances of his short AFL career on Saturday, tallying 21 disposals and six marks. After the game, Thurlow brought some great humour to the table when he was interviewed by CatsTV. Asked how excited he was about taking on Collingwood at the MCG on Friday night, he said: "I was saying to my parents the other day, the MCG's my second-favourite place other than Tassie."

4. JARED RIVERS' BOUT OF LEATHER POISONING
The veteran backman had a day out against the Tigers. He cut off numerous opposition attacks, set up numerous forward thrusts for the Cats and finished the afternoon with 21 disposals, 14 marks and 96 AFL Fantasy points. Mitch Duncan was another player who had a stack of the ball. He tallied 29 disposals, 12 marks and two brilliant running goals.

5. HAMISH McINTOSH'S VFL FORM
The big ruckman has been a very consistent performer in the VFL this season, and he was best-on-ground Geelong's eight-point win over Richmond at the Punt Rd Oval on Saturday. McIntosh finished with 25 disposals, 27 hitouts, 13 marks and two vital goals. His second goal put the Cats back in front deep in the final quarter.
