There were no shortage of highlights over the weekend, and here are five things we loved about the gutsy win over the Suns on Sunday.

1. MARK BLICAVS' COOL HEAD
The Cats were three points up with 1.03 left on the clock when Blicavs, who spent 99 per cent of the game on the field, marked a short pass from Nakia Cockatoo just inside the 50m arc. Blicavs hadn't kicked a goal for the year, but he calmly went back and put his shot right through the middle, sealing a courageous win for his team. Incidentally, the Cats have won eight of their last 9 games when the margin is 12 points or less.

2. STEVEN MOTLOP'S IMPRESSIVE RETURN
After missing the loss to Fremantle in round two due to a club-imposed suspension, Motlop was keen to prove himself all over against in Sunday's meeting with the Suns. The speedy midfielder did just that. He tallied 23 disposals, took seven marks, laid four tackles and kicked two goals. His second goal, which came after a superb pass from Mitch Duncan, was one of the most valuable of the game, handing the Cats a nine-point lead with four minutes to play.

3. JOEL SELWOOD'S IMMENSE PERFORMANCE
The Cats' skipper has played many great games during his career, but his effort against Gold Coast was up there with the best of them. Selwood finished with 38 disposals (at 71 per cent efficiency), and 23 of his possessions were contested, which was a personal record. He also tallied six tackles and kicked a goal. When the Cats were up against it in the last quarter, with no fit men on the bench, Selwood kept working at an unbelievable rate. His GPS unit must have just about melted down.

4. CORY GREGSON'S MAGIC TOUCH
The little fella from South Australia is quickly becoming a favourite of the Cats' supporters. He kicked two brilliant running goals against the Suns, the first of which was from around 60m out at the Gary Ablett Terrace end. That one was also the first goal of his AFL career. Both of Gregson's accurate kicks had the crowd roaring, and he was wearing a very broad smile in the rooms after the game.

5. THE CROWD NOISE AT THE FINISH
The Cats' fans copped a bit of a battering after the loss to Fremantle for being too quiet during the match. There wasn't a lot of noise during the first half of the Gold Coast game, when the Cats seemed headed for another home loss. But when it was all on the line at the finish, the Geelong supporters emerged from their slumber and found their collective voice. And the players certainly noticed. When CatsTV interviewed a number of the boys after the thrilling win, each of them commented on how good it was to hear the crowd roaring.
