BILLIE Smedts has been cleared to play on the Easter weekend after emerging unscathed from Geelong's solid training session at Simonds Stadium on Wednesday.

Smedts missed the Cats' final NAB Challenge game against Carlton due to back soreness.

But he has recovered and is available to line up in either the VFL practice game against Footscray on Saturday or the AFL match against Hawthorn on Monday.

"Billie Smedts with his back … he pulled through fine with that, so he'll be available this weekend," Cats physio Mark Young told nib Medical Room.

Young also spoke about the progress of Jackson Thurlow, Rhys Stanley and Josh Cowan.
