Former Cats premiership star Cameron Mooney believes new Geelong recruit Mitch Clark is already making his impact felt on the park.

Speaking on SEN, Mooney said Clark looked like he was in great shape and willing to put his voice in at training.

“I’ve run into him a couple of time and his body is fantastic and his mind is great, he’s having the time of his life at the moment,” Mooney said.

And with the Cats crying out for a partner for spearhead Tom Hawkins who can throw his weight around, Mooney believes Clark is that man.

“He’s training well, the boys are loving having him down there – he’s a big booming voice on the training track, very aggressive,” added Mooney.

“If the boys don’t kick him the right ball he does give it to them.”

In 2014, Hawkins was one of the AFL’s most targeted forwards with the Cats kicking to him a majority of the time going inside 50. Mooney believes Clark’s ability to demand the ball will only make the duo even more formidable.

“It is something that they (the team) needs, they need another big presence down in the forward line to take the pressure off big Tommy Hawkins,” said Mooney.

“If those two can get a real chemistry together I think it’s going to be pretty exciting.”

Mooney has returned to the Cats in an off-field role and can be seen on Cats TV in 2015.
