GeelongCEO Brian Cook is working to source a further $15million to complete SimondsStadium’s stage 4 redevelopment.

The $15millionis required to complete the project, which is estimated to cost a total of $90million.

Cook isconfident the funds will come from other stakeholders over the next six months,including the Cats themselves.

“Theremaining $15million needed to complete stage 4 will come from otherstakeholders such as the Geelong Football Club itself, the AFL and the City ofGreater Geelong.

“We willhave to get our heads together and try and find the extra dollars.”

The stage4 redevelopment is set to begin at the conclusion of the 2015 AFL season andwill see the existing Brownlow and Jennings Stands demolished.

After an18-month building process and a temporary reduced ground capacity the redevelopmentwill increase the stadium’s capacity to 36,000.

The newstand will include new broadcast and media facilities, a new social club andthe ‘Sunrise Centre’ for community rehabilitation.

Ministerfor Sport John Eren today recommitted $70m towards the redevelopment, acommitment Labor announced prior to the state election.

The $70mfrom the newly elected state government is vital to the completion of theproject.

“This stadium isthe third best stadium in the state. We want to make it the best regionalfacility in the nation and indeed, the world.”
