Newest Cat Rhys Stanley has spoke of the ‘absolute honour’ it was to play for Geelong.

Stanley arrived for his first visit at Simonds Stadium on Wednesday and spoke with Cats TV about coming down the highway.

Whilst in the US for a holiday with girlfriend Hannah, Stanley very quickly changed from a Saint to a Cat.

“I was in New York at the time and it basically happened over night.” Stanley said.

“I woke up in the morning to a few messages on my phone and obviously made a few phone calls and 24 hours later it was official.”

Moving from the club that drafted him was not an easy move but Stanley said it was made easier by the thought of the team he was moving too.

“Obviously it is tough, I spent six years at the Saints and developed a lot of close friendships.”

“Coming to the Cats is an absolute honour. They’re a club with a rich history.”

“When I heard that was how was going to happen and it was the Cats and it obviously made the decision to leave the Saints that bit easier.”
