Geelong champion Joel Selwood has been awarded one of the AFL's highest honours after being named captain of the 2014 All-Australian team.

The 26-year-old was selected as ruck-rover in the side as well as the game's best captain.

Selwood has had a brilliant year for the Cats playing every game whilst averaging 25.6 disposals, 6.4 clearances and 4.2 inside 50s per game.

Selwood's teammates Tom Hawkins, Tom Lonergan and Harry Taylor were all extremely unlucky to miss out on selection in the final side after being named in the 40-man squad.

The selection was Selwood's fourth All-Australian selection and his second as captain.
