This Saturday night Brisbane Lions senior coach, Justin Leppitsch, is hoping his team can give the Cats a similar fright to last year by pushing the top-four contender to its limits.

In Round 23 in 2013, the Cats only just scraped over the line by one-point after the Lions shot back into gear from 20-points down in the third quarter.

“Hopefully the game is as close as it was this time last year,” Leppitsch told www.lions.com.au

Although the Lions have no way into next week’s finals, Leppitsch and his team are still planning to go out with an almighty roar, similar or even better to last years.

“It’s a funny round the last round of the year… sometimes you see some strange results, so we’re hoping that’s the same,” Leppitsch said.

Last year Ashley McGrath kicked six majors and Jordan Lisle followed with three.

“We gave it everything we got (last year) and that’s all you can expect; for players to give their all against a good opposition,” Leppitsch said.

“They play fast offence and we have to defend well, so it’s going to be a good test for us."

Despite the Cats disappointing run in the second half last Saturday night, Leppitsch isn't expecting the upcoming contest to be any easier.

“They’re a high risk football team with the ball, so that can often lead to turnovers.

“But they’re also very good at capturing the ball back themselves, so they’ll put us under pressure, there’s no doubt and they’ll make us defend hard - we’ll just have to be up for the challenge.”

Last time the Cats met the Lions was in Round 2 at The Gabba this year, where the Cats came away with a 25-point win.

This Saturday night at 7:40 the Cats and the Lions will go head-to-head at Simonds Stadium.
