Last Friday night against Carlton, senior coaches awarded Geelong’s Josh Caddy top votes for the AFL Coaches Association Champion of the year award after his tenacious efforts in the midfield.

Caddy’s increasing momentum in the middle is close to A-class, considering he was absent for eight games this season after Round 4 when he broke his foot at training.

Friday night the young 21-one year old, who received nine votes from coaches, led the Cats disposal count with 28 touches plus a bag of four clearances, six marks and one major.

Next on the Cats list to receive a mention was former steeplechaser Mark Blicavs.

The forever-improving Cat, who already sits on 41 games in a time-frame of less than two years, took four votes for his high contested performance.

From 19 possessions, Blicavs managed to steal eight in the heat of the battle plus two contested marks from six.

Harry Taylor, who also dominated the contest with a collection of 24 touches and eight marks, received three votes and Steven Motlop was handed two for his three-goal run against the Blues.
