On Friday night the two emerging Cats to stand up and demonstrate their importance in Geelong’s 22 were Mark Blicavs and Josh Caddy.

Caddy led the Cats disposal count with 28 touches and Blicavs seemed to cover every inch of the ground more than once.

With less than 50 games and two seasons to his name, Blicavs again proved why the Cats chose him to jump on board with a high collection of 19 disposals at 90% efficiency, six marks, three inside-50s and a goal.

With help from Harry Taylor and Tom Lonergan, Blicavs won two crucial marks in the heat of the battle showing that his efforts on the training track had paid off.

“It was nice to take a few contested marks, I’ve been doing a little bit with Harry and Domsy so to get a few contested marks was fantastic,” Blicavs told Cats TV.

Another improving player who has an increasing hunger for the contest similar to Joel Sewlood is Geelong’s 21-year old midfielder Josh Caddy.

On Friday night Caddy injected a high amount of pressure and led the team with a top of 28 disposals, including six marks, four clearances, four tackles and one goal.

“His strength in the contest is unbelievable,” Blicavs said.

“He’s one of the hardest players in our team to tackle I reckon and Carlton really found that.”

“He was just busting through the packs and was able to get the ball forward - so again he was really important late in the game and that was one of his best games for the club I think.”
