Along with defending teammate Corey Enright, former Melbourne veteran Jared Rivers is unsure on where he’ll be in the world of AFL come 2015.

Having had a disappointing first year with the Cats in 2013 after being struck down by his bad knee, Rivers has become one of the leaders of this year’s defence force.

Following a sound performance of 18 touches and 11 marks against Fremantle, Rivers again delivered the goods during Friday night’s close encounter with 12 disposals at 83% efficiency, a team-high of 10 spoils and seven marks.

Although the 29-year old's contract concludes at the end of the year, Rivers says his main priority is on the season that remains  and what he can bring to the Cats’ upcoming finals campaign.

Even though the game isn’t getting any easier for the talented defender, he would be thrilled to stay on board if his body and the coaching staff allow him to.

“It’s pretty tough at this stage, getting myself up every week, but like I said before, the body’s holding up really well and hopefully I can finish up strong and we can sit down at the end of the year and make a decision,” Rivers told News Limited.

“I’ll probably just focus on the last bit of the season and hopefully have a chat with (Chris Scott) at the end of the season and go from there.

“I don’t think there’s too many clubs out there chasing me, so I’m not too worried about waiting on contracts.

“I’ll just focus on footy and hopefully we can get something done by the end of the year.”
