The situation for the Cats this weekend is very simple, WIN and their chances of playing VFL finals is still alive, LOSE and their fate will be in the hands of other results in the run home.

The all-important Saturday morning clash sees the 9th placed Bendigo Bank Cats (8 wins, 8 losses 115.06%) take on the 6th placed Collingwood (10 wins, 6 losses, 110.73%) who are also looking to cement their place in the 2014 VFL Finals series.

VFL Listed players Andrew Banjanin, Cameron Tudor, Chris Lynch, Dane McFarlane, Luke Bath and Zak Sherman have all been added to the squad that lost to the North Ballarat Roosters by 17 points at Eureka Stadium on Sunday.

Mitch Brown, Josh Walker, Jesse Stringer, Jordan Schroder, Brad Hartman, Jackson Sheringham, Jackson Thurlow and Joel Hamling are amongst the 14 AFL listed players named for the Cats.

The outgoing players for the VFL Cats are headlined by in form utility Billie Smedts, who has been promoted to the AFL side, while luckless ruckman Dawson Simpson will miss the crucial match after suffering a back injury in the early stages of the clash against the Roosters.

Late withdrawals from last round, Taylor Hunt (groin) and James Toohey (hamstring) have both failed to come up for the Saturday blockbuster, while fellow late withdrawal Jed Bews has been selected in the AFL side to take on Carlton this Friday night.

The revolving door of 23rd players sees St Joseph’s pocket rocket Brant Haintz come back into the side for Joey’s teammate Tom Atkins, who played his 5th and final home and away match as the Cats 23rd player last weekend.

The sixth placed VFL Magpies have had an impressive season to date and look to be making a serious charge ahead of the finals.

Despite the Pies having had a long injury list for much of the 2014 season, the VFL team has shown an ability to win games no matter what the breakdown of AFL & VFL listed players they field.

The Dale Tapping coached outfit have named 14 AFL listed players including Clinton Young, Jesse White, Quinten Lynch, Josh Thomas, Tony Armstrong, Patrick Karnezis, Kyle Martin, Paul Seedsman, Caolan Mooney and highly touted draft pick Matthew Scharenberg.

Prized VFL listed recruit Matthew Suckling has also been named to return from injury.

The match kicks off at 11.00am and will act as a curtain raiser to the TAC Cup Round 17 match between the Geelong Falcons and the Oakleigh Chargers, which kicks off at 2.00pm.

The Polly Farmer Gates (off Moorabool St) will open at 10.00am and patrons will be charged VFL admission prices until three quarter time of the VFL match.
