This Saturday night anything could happen depending on which herd of Kangaroos decide to show up at Etihad Stadium.

The Roos have proven they can dismantle those at the top, however, they have also shown they can crumble against those at the bottom.

This year they've overridden competition leaders including Port Adelaide, Sydney, Fremantle and Hawthorn.

AFL journalist Adam McNicol believes the Cats are a ‘far better side than North’, although, this year the Kangaroos, whose last game ended in a shock defeat against Carlton, have managed to put themselves back into the competition with a win after every loss.

So if the Roos continue this year’s record of toppling the best and winning after a loss, the Cats will be up for one tough fight this Saturday night.

“If a good North turns up under the roof anything could happen – they’re a very talented side, they can move the ball very quickly and it should be a very good game,” McNicol told Cats TV.

According to McNicol the midfield will be where the key battles between the Cats and the Roos will take place.

“I think it’s in the midfield where the Kangaroos can get hold of Geelong at times,” McNicol said.

“One of Geelong’s great strengths is spread and running with the footy and fast movement of the ball, and I suppose North a couple of times have beaten Geelong at their own game.”

Along with the Kangaroo’s midfield there’s another perilous force that resides in their frontline.

This season the 36 year-old veteran, Brent Harvey, has kicked a bag of 23 goals and has made an average delivery of 26 disposals from 17 games.

There is no doubt after 379 games and 19 AFL seasons that Harvey is still the Kangaroo’s most important contestant on their list.

“He is still their best player, he’s still their most consistent and dangerous player and he’s the one that the opposition tag first,” McNicol said.

“It’s a remarkable thing but he’s going to play on next year, he’s already decided, and to him age is not the issue, how many games is not the issue – he’s still an elite footballer.”
