Joel Selwood admits he’s pleased with the Cats position going into the bye, however, he says it’s important not to get ahead of the race and to take every battle as they come.

“Yeah I’m very happy but it’s the next week now – we’ll forget the record, it is what it is and we’ll (prepare to) take on the Kangaroos when we come up against them and I really look forward to that,” Selwood told Cats TV minutes after Saturday’s win against the Giants.

Following the bye, the Cats will meet the Roos for Round 20 at Etihad Stadium on Saturday August 2nd at 7:40pm.

Last time the two teams battled was in Round 10 this year, when the Cats came away with a 20-point win at Simonds Stadium.

After this week’s Catnap, Selwood assures his team will return licking their lips and hungrier than ever for a top four finish.

“I mean you probably limp to the break a little bit and then after that you can really see what’s going on, that’s why it’s so important to keep the week by week (approach),” Selwood explained.
