With five of the last six games being won by less than two goals, the footy world is predicting another blockbuster between archrivals Geelong and Hawthorn on Easter Monday. Key defender Tom Lonergan and AFL journalist Scott Gullan spoke to Cats TV about what they’re expecting to see at the game.

“I would say you’ll get a kick after the siren Jimmy Bartel or Tom Hawkins style,” Gullan said.

“The game, with ten minutes to go, will be up for grabs. Five minutes to go, it’ll probably still be up for grabs, that’s my prediction,” Gullan said.

Last time they met, Geelong went down by five points in an unforgettable 2013 preliminary final, with Hawthorn kicking the last three goals of the match to steal the Grand Final spot.

“It’s going to be a big crowd, 70 000 plus, and like Scotty I think it’ll be a really close one,” Lonergan said.

The veteran had a prediction about how the end of the game will pan out,

“Travy Varcoe wins it out of the middle, kicks it long, Tommy Hawkins takes a big screamer, kicks a goal, wins the game,” Lonergan said.??

Cats’ fans will certainly be hoping Lonergan has seen into the future, a win over the ladder leaders would keep the Cats undefeated for season 2014 and send them to the top of the table.
