On Tweet the Coach Chris Scott says he would have aimed to have played within the rules if a shutdown specialist similar to Brent Macaffer had ever confronted him.

Scott concedes that even during his era players were expected to keep a firm lid on their emotions. According to Scott, someone like Neil Balme would have been able to give a more interesting answer to the question.

“Times have certainly changed, even when I played it was more important that you were more disciplined and the team ethic certainly required discipline players that didn’t react emotionally,” Scott told Cats TV.

“That wasn’t always the case but I think even in today’s footy playing within the rules is so important, because if you don’t you just hurt your team too much – such as a penalty for suspension.”

"If the question is 'would I be more physical on some players playing today', I’d like to think I’d stay within the rules."
