The vote count for the AFL Coaches Association Award has begun for the 2014 season with Geelong’s skipper already slipping into second place after Round 2.

During Round 1 Joel Selwood kicked off the season in true Selwood style collecting 10 votes for his efforts against the Crows. He finished off the Cats 38-point win with a game high disposal count of 34 as well as six tackles and two goals.

For his 250th game, Jimmy Bartel was next in line with six votes followed by James Kelly and Andrew Mackie on 4 each.

For Round 2 against the Lions Steve Johnson’s bold performance won him the 10 votes in the AFL Coaches Association Awards.

Johnson swept across the Gabba floor on Sunday picking up 37 touches, 10 tackles and 153 AF Fantasy Points.  

Geelong’s skipper, who took 25 touches against the Lions, enjoyed another day out winning six votes from the AFLca panel.
