On Argue the Toss Cats TV asked, Tom Lonergan and journalist Scott Gullan, if they regard Joel Selwood as the best captain in the league.

The young 24 year-old skipper, continues to extend his role week after week, coming away with 31 touches, 10 tackles and a goal against the mighty Swans last Friday night.

Lonergan cannot speak more highly of the young captain and explains how his remarkable efforts are recognised throughout the entire AFL.

“Sel has every attribute that you want in a captain, he’s tough, resilient, highly respected and not just by Geelong people but by the wider football community,” Lonergan said.

“I think he single handedly kept us in the game on Friday night against the Swans. I was just in awe of his performance and I think if you ask any one around the place they don’t have enough positive things to say about Joel, he’s terrific.”

Gullan is most impressed with the way Selwood has the ability to turn a game around and inspires his teammates to follow.

“I love how he just says alright enough… I’m going to drag this over now and he’s turned three of the four games,” Gullan said.

“I mean Hawthorn round one he turned last quarter, North Melbourne same thing and then against Sydney he was remarkable. Leigh Matthews was in the commentary and he doesn’t get giddy about any one… he was in raptures about Joel and I think that says a lot.”
