The VFL Cats have named an extended 30-man squad for Saturday’s practice match against Footscray at Simonds Stadium.

The squad, which will be reduced to 25 players on Saturday morning, includes Jackson Thurlow who is set to return to football after recovering from a kidney injury.

Thurlow suffered a lacerated kidney after an incident at training in December last year. After returning to training in January he has since built his training load to now be ready for a return.

Rhys Stanley has also been named in the VFL squad and could potentially play his first game in the blue and white hoops on Saturday.

Stanley has had an interrupted pre-season since arriving at the club from St Kilda, suffering a number of leg injuries.

Practice match 3: Geelong VFL vs Footscray VFL, 11am Saturday 4th April, Simonds Stadium. The Polly Farmer Gate (Moorabool Street) will be open from 10.30am. Entry is FREE. Seating will be available within the lower level of the Reg Hickey Stand, catering also available within the stand.
