GOLD Coast Academy graduate Brad Scheer will debut against Geelong on Saturday night.

Scheer was taken at No.67 in last year's NAB AFL Draft when, ironically, the Suns matched the Cats' bid to draft him.

The 18-year-old will become the third academy product to play for the Suns, following in the footsteps of Jesse Joyce and Jack Bowes.

Scheer is a solidly-built inside midfielder who can also play forward.

He averaged 25 disposals in last year’s NAB AFL under-18 championships, and earned a NEAFL Rising Star nomination in his first game for the Suns.

Scheer suffered pneumonia early in the JLT Community Series, but has recovered to average 20 disposals and five tackles in the NEAFL to earn his senior call-up.
