The VFL Cats will be looking to keep their season alive when they take on fellow AFL stand-alone side Richmond under lights at Simonds Stadium on Saturday night.

AFL omission Jed Bews joins rookie-listed pair Jackson Sheringham and James Toohey on the list of incoming players for the Cats.
Sheringham missed last week’s clash through illness, while Toohey was managed as part of his first year in the AFL system.

Newtown speedster Dane McFarlane has also been added to the Cats 27 man squad.

At this stage Torquay defender Paul Burchell is the only outgoing player from last week’s squad and has been replaced in the 23rd player role by South Barwon key position player Fraser Fort, who will return for his first VFL match since Round 4.

The VFL Tigers, will be out to replicate their remarkable performance against the Cats earlier this season. On that forgettable day in Round 5, the Tigers piled on 12 goals in the third quarter to run out 51-point victors.

With the Richmond AFL side playing on Sunday, the Tigers have included their 7-man AFL interchange bench of Ricky Petterd, Matthew Thomas, Matthew Dea, Steven Morris, Nick Vlastuin, Sam Lloyd and Shaun Hampson in their 31 player squad.

The Saturday night blockbuster was originally scheduled to be a double header with the ‘AFL Victoria Community Cup’ between Victoria Country and Victoria Metro acting as the curtain raiser, but unfortunately the highly anticipated ‘Bush Vs the Burbs’ clash has been moved due to the condition of the Simonds Stadium surface and the inclement weather that is predicted for the weekend. This match will now be played at Avalon Airport Oval, Werribee on Saturday at 2.15pm.

Saturday night’s match will kick off at 7.30pm with the Polly Farmer Gates (off Moorabool St) opening at 6.30pm. As is the case for all home matches, 2014 Geelong members gain FREE entry.

For all Cats fans that cannot get to Simonds Stadium on Saturday night, the match will be tweeted live, so follow @GeelongVFL on Twitter for all the action including live scores, stats updates and photos.
