The Cats journey to the Crows' nest this Sunday could be a less perilous encounter than originally predicted with the expected loss of their number one Crow, Patrick Dangerfield.

During Adelaide’s 27-point loss to Collingwood last Friday night the tough midfielder hampered his shoulder in the first term, however he managed to push through the pain and play out the match.

After receiving sans on Monday the Adelaide Football Club believe it will be unlikely that Dangerfield will be fit enough to play against the Cats this Sunday.

“Dangerfield had scans on his injured shoulder on Monday afternoon and will now consult a shoulder specialist to source the best rehabilitation program available,” www.afc.com.au said.

“It’s highly unlikely he’ll be available to play against Geelong this weekend.”

The 23-year old from Geelong, who hasn’t missed a game since round 19 in 2010, will not only leave a huge gap in the Crow’s midfield, his absence will leave the team without their largest engine.

The Club’s General Manager of Football Administration, Phil Harper, says Dangerfield will need time off the track in order to make a full and quick recovery.

“It’s disappointing for Patrick. He’s been very durable and rarely missed a game over the past few seasons,” Harper said to www.afc.com.au.

“As a Club, we are determined to get the best treatment to ensure he is back playing as soon as possible.”
