Criteria for Life Membership

As recorded in the club's constitution, the committee may at its discretion annually elect as Life Members any person who has rendered outstanding service to the club.As a guide, criteria for selection/nomination developed in 1991 is detailed below:

Players

• GFC Hall of Fame inductee
• GFC Team of the Century member
• 150 games
• 100 games plus selection in a Premiership team
• 50 games plus selection in a Premiership team, plus satisfaction of any one of the following criteria:
  • Brownlow medallist (whilst playing for Geelong)
  • Best and Fairest (Carji) winner
  • All Australian selection (whilst playing for Geelong) OR State selection for Victoria (only up until formation of the AFL in 1990) whilst playing for Geelong
  • member of the AFL Hall of Fame
  • GFC Club Captain
  • AFL leading goal kicker (whilst playing for Geelong)
  • 10 years service

Please note – a second Premiership equates to the additional satisfaction of one of the criteria ie 50 games and 2 Premierships satisfies the criteria for automatic LM

Administration and Part Time Officials

Minimum of 15 years service to be eligible for consideration
As a guide, any nominations presented for consideration outside these guidelines, should obtain a unanimous vote of endorsement by the Board.Please note that if there is a lack of worthy recipients awards do not have to be made each year.
